We are working with a technology company for the world’s major entertainment and music brands, founded in 2004, who over the past 20 years, have developed platforms for over 50 global clients and agencies. Working with the Music Industry’s largest WordPress Content Management solution, as well as Shopify extensions to support NFTs, Headless Shopify Commerce and the world’s biggest e-commerce platform for store owners.

This is a growing business and we’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join a team of highly skilled engineers and support staff.
 

What you’ll be doing:

The Engineering Team Lead is a pivotal role that combines hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team of cross-functional developers in creating high-quality full-stack web solutions. This role demands a deep involvement in the development process, technical decision-making, and strategic leadership to drive project success and team growth. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a team of Technical Project Managers, all while under the strategic guidance of the Delivery Director.

Our technology stacks: AWS, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, Shopify, React, NodeJs, WordPress.

Hands-On Development and Technical Leadership (70% of role)

  • Actively contribute to the coding, design, and architecture of web development projects, demonstrating expertise in AWS, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, Shopify, React, Node.js, and WordPress.
  • Lead by example, showing a commitment to coding excellence, innovation, and best practices.
  • Make key technical decisions and guide the team in implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.


Team Leadership and Management (30% of role)

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of cross-functional developers (6) fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback and career development guidance to team members.
  • Enforce a culture of excellence by setting clear quality benchmarks and holding team members accountable for delivering work to the highest possible standards.
  • Ensure that rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices in software development are consistently applied to achieve outstanding quality in all projects.

 
What experience you will need to apply:
 

  • 5+ years of development experience, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, and/or Node.js.
  • 3+ years of management experience within a software development organisation, preferably with exposure to web development projects using Shopify and WordPress.
  • Experience in the e-commerce sector or a similar fast-paced web development environment is preferable.
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of the commercial aspects of web development.
  • Proven ability as a people manager, with demonstrable experience managing cross-functional development teams and delivering results in a dynamic environment.
  • Deep technical expertise in scalable web application development and a thorough understanding of AWS services.
  • Strong negotiation and coaching skills, with a proven track record in fostering high-performance team environments.
  • Ability to influence and create a participative, empowered atmosphere that fosters high-performance cultures within teams and individuals.
