Salary and Day Rate Benchmarks

Here, we aim to provide an overall range of day rates and salaries.
There are always factors to consider when assigning a day rate and salary to a role, such as the skill demand, location, complexity, level of responsibility as well as what other benefits are on offer, such as remote working. It’s also worth noting that the ‘number of years’ of experience is not an ideal measure. However, as a general guide, it should provide some ballparks and pointers…

At entry level, with the basic skills that are required from a Project Manager, the salary would start at around £20k – £28k. At the mid-level, you can expect salaries around the £35k – £50k. At the more senior level, salaries, typically exceed £50k- £55k. At the Head of/Director level, salaries tend to start at around £70k.

Day Rates
At an entry-level, for a junior/graduate a typical day rate would be around the £300 mark, at the mid-level around the £350 mark and seniors can expect a day rate of £450+ as a benchmark.

Is it right for me? The skills it takes…

As a Project/ Programme Manager you will naturally find the right balance between building, growing and enhancing internal and external relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring that the delivery of projects within time, budget and scope. You will be technically minded, have a genuine interest in the digital world both in and out of work, with the ability to work closely with the development team, understanding project limitations, capabilities and potential blockers and then communicating through to non-technical teams in a digestible form.

What qualifications does it take?
