Tareek Lamhaouli

What did you want to become when you were a kid?

A drummer in a grunge band.

Dave Grohl’s explosive drumming when in Nirvana blew my tiny eight-year-old mind and fell in love with drums from then. He was the inspiration that got me into drumming and to form a grunge/punk band called Pin Munkie when I was fourteen. A year later we did our first proper gig playing our own music at what was McClusky’s (now Whistle Punks Urban Axe Throwing). We had to get our parents to drive us there and wait outside in the car as we were obviously way too cool to be seen with our parents back then.

What does the concept of ‘purpose’ mean to you?

Purpose’ for me is an integral part of modern business success. Making positive change is everything now. It’s something i can really get behind, something to believe in. Working closely with lots of purpose-driven businesses means you get to understand the variety across the word ‘purpose’, creating different drivers, different missions etc. I have a big window into so many organisations, which is really helpful in shaping the meaning of purpose to me.

What is a personal accomplishment that you are proud of outside of work?

Winning Premier League titles multiple times across 5 & 6-a-side football in Bristol with my beloved team, The Filthy Geese (est. 2008), who I’ve captained since 2012.

Tareek specialises in Tech across the Start-up / Scale-up market of the South West, well connected, covering the various disciplines within Software Development, QA, DevOps and Infrastructure.

Helping Start-up’s and Scale-up’s through various stages of growth, Tareek offers a consultative approach on anything from writing a first job description to creating an interview process, to shaping a roadmap of hires, to introducing companies/organisations to his wider network, with a company’s best interests at heart.

He understands no two businesses are the same, so offers a variety of solutions to suit your needs, including a traditional contingent approach, branded campaigns, a subscription model, exclusivity, split payments + more.

He covers all candidate levels, from Junior/Mid to CTO/Head of/Director, really understanding people’s needs and making sure the next move for anyone is right for them on their career path. Tareek also really gets to know a company/organisation by grasping key ingredients like culture, tech stack, what a new hire will be working on, technical direction, personal development plans and training options, by visiting a client site and getting a feel of their true environment while building an honest relationship with the person who’s hiring.

In his spare time he services, refurbishes and builds bicycles, is a self-taught barber, plays 6-a-side football at the highest level in Bristol, dreams about playing drums in a band again, loves socialising but equally a relaxing day out walking in woodlands or going for an easy bike ride (stopping in at a few pubs ideally!).

He also volunteers at the live events of Green Tech South West, the largest green tech community in the South West and has run workshops with Weston College to help guide aspiring Software Developers in their career mapping.

What my candidates say

  • Tareek was really attentive and easy to talk to whilst helping me secure a job in a new location. He represented ADLIB fantastically, would definitely use his services again!

    Joe Reed

    Front-End Developer

  • Tareek first approached me while I was searching for a new job. He kept me up to date with any progress and helped me all the way through the process, swiftly but with great attention to detail, never keeping me waiting for a response to any of my queries. Within a few weeks I went from aimlessly job searching to having an offer I couldn't turn down, meanwhile other recruiters had barely got past the CV exchanging stage.

  • Tareek has been the most amazing recruiter I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I've been bombarded by others before, and had impersonal in-mails with others which didn't lead anywhere due to the lack of communication. But with Tareek, you genuinely get expertise and honest advice, and a lifelong connection that you'll want to go back to for all future recruitment opportunities. His communication has been above and beyond. He helped me with my first career move I've had in 9 years, and didn't hesitate to get on the phone for extended periods of time. When he said to have a "quick chat" on the phone at the beginning I almost didn't as I thought he'd by like everyone else, but honestly, there was no pressure, and he found out about my career history and what I wanted from a job. He checked in regularly via message and phone calls, recommended highly suitable jobs - sold me well, and equally sold the companies well - and was a fantastic communicator between myself and the people I interviewed with. He has really in-depth technical knowledge for somebody who isn't a developer (really impressive), and has given me the most valuable experience with multiple firms and cheered me on at each success. The people I interviewed with, or any professional people who knew him within the companies, spoke very highly of him and one even said they wouldn't use any other recruiter. For a technical hire, from an employer and potential employee perspective, I'd wholeheartedly recommend him. Huge thanks to Tareek for helping me with every step and explaining each process to me. I wouldn't use or trust anybody else with my future now; if you're nervous about using a recruiter, you definitely shouldn't be with Tareek.

  • Tareek placed me as Director of Engineering at Pirate. The standout thing for me in that placement was the way in which Tareek worked to find the best match for both me and Pirate. He was not trying to push me into a role which was not the best fit, and would be possibly short-lived, but instead was focussed on the best match. This was a breath of fresh air to me and an experience which is hard to find with other recruiters in my experience. I think that Tareek is an open and honest person and I trusted in him to secure the best role for me based on what I was looking for. He was always easy to get hold off and provided regular updates throughout the process. Again, something which other recruiters do not do. I would highly recommend Tareek to anyone who is looking to secure their next role at all seniority levels.

Tareek takes the time to understand our specific needs and culture, and he only presents candidates that are a strong match. He has facilitated the hiring process by providing essential salary benchmarking data so that we can make competitive offers. Tareek's recruiting expertise and network in the tech community have significantly benefited Haysto's growth. We highly recommend him to any company looking to build an exceptional development team.
