You will have worked in an agile environment. Experience of windows desktop applications would be preferable but training is provided. An interest in software/technology. Any programming experience in C#, VB, C++ or any OO language would be advantageous. Exposure to automation test principles would be beneficial. ISTQB is desirable. A relevant computing degree is also desirable but not essential. Ability to work closely with developers and engineering specialists. Good communication skills. You will be driven to learn and improve.What you’ll be doingAs a member of a multi-disciplinary team you will contribute to the testing and documentation of software programs as part of the development of the companies range of products. You will provide the software and embedded software test specifications, test cases and test automation suites necessary to provide robust and reliable software. You’ll be working within the software team (projects are usually 2-3 developers and 1 tester) using agile methods, participating in sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Estimate tasks, write test schedules, write and execute story tests. You will also automate new functional test cases and run automated regression tests. You’ll be contributing to software testing standards and policies under the direction of the lead test engineer and dev manager. They’re looking for an ambitious Lead Test Engineer to come in and take ownership of their test function and implement best test tools and practices.What skills you’ll need Significant manual and automation testing experience. Ability to manage test plan execution across a team of testers or developers. Experience building test plans, selecting and operating appropriate testing and reporting tools. Experience of automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Enzyme, Selenium or Rundeck. A good working knowledge of Continuous Integration or DevOps practices is desirable.   Exposure to Python or experience in Python testing environments would be a plus. Linux or networking would also be a bonus.What you’ll be doingThis is a brand new role which will really allow you to take ownership of the company’s test function.  Working within a newly formed DevOps Engineering team, you will work in a hands-on capacity leading the testing activity across the team, as well as executing and maintaining manual and automated tests yourself. You will own the test plans for the product by supporting and advising development teams on their acceptance testing and creating automated regression plans from these.
