— Rapidly growing Biotech
Fast growing and extremely innovative scale-up
Utilising unique methods for drug discovery
Strong career progression opportunities
This is an opportunity to join an exciting drug discovery innovator utilising machine learning to vastly improve the drug discovery process and produce more effective therapeutics worldwide. In line with growth, they are searching for an experienced Senior Protein Scientist.
What you’ll be doing:
Maintain and upgrade our eukaryotic expression facility; this will include establishing new expression cell lines from human, insect or yeast.
Lead on target protein production, as well as optimising production methods for complex protein modalities.
Introduce new equipment and workflows to streamline the production of therapeutic candidate proteins.
Collaborate with our automation team to onboard new expression hosts into our automated high-throughput protein production platform.
Work closely with our high-throughput screening team to design and provide suitable protein constructs for different characterisation assays.
Train other team members in advanced expression and purification techniques.
What experience you’ll need to apply?
You will need to be passionate about protein production with significant experience working with eukaryotic expression systems. You will need to have worked on tricky targets and workflows for example membrane proteins, mAbs, Fabs, or multi-valent biologics. You will need AKTA, FPLC, Cloning (Gibson Assembly/Golden Gate) experience.
What are they looking for?
You’re passionate about protein production, with significant experience working with bacterial and eukaryotic expression systems.
You enjoy shaking things up for the better, with experience of advocating for, implementing, and validating new protein production technologies.
You’ve worked on a variety of tricky targets, overcoming challenges to produce high-quality, high-yield proteins. This may include membrane proteins, mAbs, Fabs, or multi-valent biologics.
You’re an ÄKTA super-user with substantial expertise across a range of FPLC systems and workflows, e.g., developing automated workflows to increase purification throughput.
Strong molecular biology skills, preferably with experience of cutting-edge cloning techniques such as Gibson assembly or Golden Gate.
Demonstrable ability to up-skill more junior team members and explain scientific concepts to non-scientists, such as automation engineers.
Previous experience working with or developing high-throughput protein production systems will be valuable, but not essential.
What you’ll get in return for your experience
To be part of a brilliant and purpose driven team, for a company dedicated to have a positive impact on human health, with likeminded people. The company also offers flexible working, self-study budgets, one to one coaching, and they are big on diversity!
