A public sector software delivery specialist recently landed in Bristol and are looking for Tech Leads with polyglot tech knowledge and AWS/DevOps experience to join their team. This is a brand-new hub with rapid plans for growth in place, driven by a culture of mentoring and support with dedicated afternoons set aside for research & development. Outcome-based delivery is a big focus for the business; they pride themselves on ensuring that all technology deployed meets the goals & expectations of their customer base. They’re embarking on a pioneering programme of work which will have a positive impact on the lives of UK citizens everywhere. What skills you’ll need Proven experience in technical leadership with a background in mentoring other Engineers and working to architecture/consultant level.  Extensive experience working in AWS environments and its associated tech (EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront etc).  Fluency in at least one server-side language; C#, Ruby, Java, Scala, Python or Groovy. Significant understanding of infrastructure-as-code & automation using things like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes.  Appreciation of front-end/UI, ideally with exposure to React or similar.  Experience with API development, microservice architecture & databases. Comfortable with TDD/BDD approach. Ability to work Agile/Scrum with regular sprints.  Awareness of paired programming techniques.  What you’ll be doing Joining a brand-new delivery team, you will act as a technical & thought Leader for other engineers internally, offering insight & expertise across a variety of paradigms which includes object-oriented, declarative, event-based and functional. The majority of the project base sits across healthcare & local/central government, a lot of pioneering projects which could involve you in anything from monoliths to microservices, constantly advocating technical excellence and adapting between engineering, architecture, technical direction and consultancy depending on the scenario. You will offer a passion for cloud & automation, seamless tooling and approaching software delivery in a DevOps approach. The business has built an unrivalled support structure which you will contribute to, along with regular client-facing aspects which comes back to the consultative nature of the role.  What you’ll get in return for your experience Where to start?     Senior/Lead Ruby Developer - Remote

    Innovation Agency supporting charities for over 10 years.  Chance to learn Elixir & React Native. Fully remote with travel to London once a week. A digital innovation agency in London are looking for a Senior/Lead Ruby Developer to work fully remote with a trip to London once a week to liaise with the team. This agency are specialists in digital strategy, user research and application development, boasting a diverse customer base which spans across large corps, not-for-profits & start-up organisations.  What experience you’ll need  Demonstrable background in developing complex Ruby on Rails applications, ideally with exposure to multi-project environments. Experience in mentoring other Developers and acting as Technical Lead on projects.  Awareness of the “DevOps” culture of working (CI/CD, IaC, automation, containers etc.).  Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL datastores.  Ability to write reusable, reliable, scalable code, as well as supporting live apps in production.  Drive to learn new & emerging tech, for example Elixir or React Native.  What you’ll be doing  As a Senior/Lead Developer here, you’ll report into the Technical Director, acting as Technical Lead across a diverse project base, playing a key part in the build of solid, scalable products in Ruby on Rails. Communication is key, you’ll take ownership of technical strategy, providing consultancy to their customer base and often working across multiple projects concurrently meaning you’ll need to be adaptable. These applications often have complex workflows & database schemas so you’ll need to be confident in making positive technical architecture decisions and providing direction to other more junior developers in the team. Remote working, equity etc. A brand-new start-up who are beating their competitors and already making major movements are looking for a lead developer to bring everything in-house and take this product to the next level. This is a chance for someone looking to take on a big challenge with big rewards – you can move into a CTO position within 6 months and grow a team around you with a choice of tech – these roles don’t come around often! Experience you’ll need Experience building mobile apps – either Android, iOS or React Native. Experience creating web apps with JavaScript (ideally React). Proficient use of Web APIs to create connections in order to obtain data. You’ll favour modern technologies and keeping up to date with the latest trends. You will have worked with either AWS or GCP. DevOps experience would be a big bonus. Any us of Docker, Kubernetes or Terraform would be a plus. A passion for engineering and cross functional programming. Agile experience is a must. You’ll be keen to mentor/manage other developers as the team grows. Flexibility on tech. Knowledge of SDK integration would really help. Git version control. If you’ve worked within a start-up that will help your application. What you’ll be doing You will have a unique opportunity to help create and develop an in-house Dev team for this market leading company with an evolving world-class product. Your experience and views will be an important part of the decision-making process. You will lead the development across front-end and back-end of applications. It is expected that you manage junior developers and the Frontend Developers to create an innovative team to work under you. It is also essential to work with the team to improve their skills and knowledge about new technologies and best practice, run stand-ups and help create a stimulating environment for the dev team to thrive. With your history working with modern and popular tech you will implement new features to their existing apps, your code will be readable, maintainable and penetration testable. You will be validating new features with data-driven analytics and see your features through from inception to deployment and own the process throughout. Working closely with more junior members of the team you will carry out code reviews, communicate well and be a respected mentor introducing best practices to the dynamic team.
