All roles in client services will be varied in every organisation but the below job examples will give you a better idea of what you could be doing depending on your professional level.
For example, as an Account Executive you’ll support one or a team of account managers with projects within a Marketing/Branding/Digital/Integrated agency. Sometimes working on one major client account or a diverse portfolio of clients. You’ll often work in a fast-paced environment, with the ambition to continuously develop your marketing knowledge and skills. In everything you do, you put clients’ needs at the forefront.
What does career or job in client services entail?
If you progress towards an Account Manager role, you’ll often work closely with the wider agency client service, planning, dev and project management teams. You will play a lead role in the delivery of integrated campaigns for B2C and/or B2B audiences. You’ll need a solid understanding of all things marketing as it’ll be down to you to communicate progress to your clients, as well as managing expectations and problem solving when needed.
On a more senior level (Account Director), you’ll nurture existing client relationships with a hands-on approach. You’ll provide professional, planned and responsive direction for your portfolio or clients. It’ll be down to you to develop client plans and to take ownership of the client revenue targets, essentially be more commercial. You’ll help deliver fantastic projects for key clients, planning and tracking projects to maximise profitability. Developing and nurturing relationships at a senior level will be at the core of what you do and you’ll be able to confidently discuss brand strategy opportunities and challenges.

What is the average salary for Client Services jobs?
At an entry level, junior/graduate an Account Executive on average will be earning between £18k-£24k. At Account manager/Senior Account Manager Level you’d be looking to earn £25k-£35k and Account Directors would be looking to earn £40k-55k.

What qualifications do you need for a career in Client Services?
To work in client services, you will usually require an undergraduate degree ideally in marketing however there is no specific need here. A passion for the industry and marketing as a whole is of greater importance.
