Join an innovative and forward thinking company.     Joining the Data team in this fast growing and innovative Tech scale up, you will be given the chance to grow and get exposure to a wide range of business analytics from customer data to internal business data, operational data and financial data. Wherever data needs to be analysed the stakeholders need to see it. What you’ll be doing  Working as part of the wider Data Team, you will use your SQL skills to get the data to answer business questions and create meaningful dashboards that can be used to derive insights from the business and customers. You will be workinng on a modern data stack using AWS, Snowflake, SQL and Looker to maniuplate data, take data from multiple sources and then build dashboards, reports and data visualisations. You'll have plenty of interactions with Senior Managers in this business across the different areas and departments to support them with their reporting and data needs.  What experience you’ll need to apply Strong, practical experience of SQL. Experience using data analysis and manipulation tools. Some dashboarding / reporting / data visualisation experience ideally with Looker but Tableau or Power BI would also be ok. Experience working with cloud based technologies. Experience working with data warehouse technology like Snowflake or similar. Following a recent, large funding round, they are looking to expand the team with more world-class individuals. You will be their first, dedicated Data Science hire, so you’ll really have the opportunity to develop an amazing product that you can call yours. What you’ll be doing You’ll be primarily working to push the development of new features for their product. As well as supporting the creation and implementation of Data Science solutions. Mainly looking at customer data you’ll be tasked with looking into conversion rates, engagement and churn as well as looking at any potential bottlenecks and insights from their behaviour.  Creating actionable solutions to business problems using Machine Learning, Statistical and Analytical techniques as well as also playing a key part in the automation and optimization of processes and the implementation of new models and algorithms. This is a broad role with the chance to get stuck in with a range to tools and technologies. What experience you’ll need to apply At least 3 years experience of working as a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer in a similar environment Technically you’ll mainly be using Python (think libraries like Pandas, Scikit-Learn and PyTorch) NLP experience is vital here given the type of data you’ll be working with. Communication skills are key are you’ll be dealing with stakeholders inside and outside of the business. Not be afraid to get involved in the many tasks working in a startup can throw at you.  What you’ll get in return for your experience  The salary on this one is £50K - £70K alongside equity options. Establishing a Data Science function

  • LV= are one of the UK’s largest personal insurers who announced earlier this year that they were partnering with the University of Bristol to establish a team of Data Scientists and Engineers with the aim of making advancements in the field of Data Science by sharing knowledge, skills and opportunities. 
  • We initially worked with Venura as a candidate, finding him the role at LV=. He soon needed another two sets of hands, planning on growing his team to 3.
  • To help him with this, we worked with him to truly understand his style of working and management, gathering a detailed brief that outlined the ideal candidates. 
  • By tapping into existing candidate pools and relationships, we were able to suggest a range of suitable candidates with a wide range of experience and that had the vital mix of  technical and soft skills needed, to be working alongside University of Bristol as a team.
